June Shabbaton Weekend with Rabbi Lindsey bat Joseph

Let’s heartily welcome back to the OJC Rabbi Y. Lindsey bat Joseph!
Rabbi Lindsey served as our part-time rabbi in the late 2000s. Since then, she’s been very busy, earning a (second!) master’s degree from SFU (this one in Moral Philosophy), founding and leading the Sol Mark Centre for Jewish Excellence, and serving as Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences and professor of Philosophy at Alexander College.
After earning her first master’s degree in Hebrew Letters, and being ordained at Hebrew Union College, Rabbi Lindsey spent 11 years on the pulpit as a rabbi-educator of Edmonton’s Reform Temple Beth Ora. Since moving to the West Coast, she has been committed to teaching, learning, outreach, and engagement with post-secondary institutions and small Jewish communities across BC (like ours!).
Please join us as Rabbi Lindsey leads us in Friday night and Saturday morning services.

7:00pm – Philosoper’s Kaffeehaus: What a delight this kaffehaus evening will be! You won’t want to miss it. The OJC’s own Dr. David Meola is a real-live expert on the Viennese Café. He’ll share the intricate and delicious history of the rise of coffee culture in the nineteenth century. And we’ll eat. Of course.
Our Oneg Shabbat meal is generously sponsored by Koreann Bracken-Horrocks, in honour of the conversion of her husband, Stan Bracken-Horrocks. Rabbi Lindsey led Stan’s conversion, so it’s a simcha all around!
* PLEASE NOTE – Due to a severe fish allergy, we respectfully ask that you refrain from bringing any seafood products into the building this weekend. Delicious vegetarian or pareve side dishes are always welcome at both the Oneg and the Kiddush luncheon. Thank you!
